CFD-Dentist-Kowalski-1

Dr. Evan Kowalski, DDS

Dr. Evan Kowalski grew up on the east side of the state in Brighton, MI. After graduating from Michigan State University in 2010, he spent the next few years working as a research associate in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan. He stayed in Ann Arbor to attend dental school at the University of Michigan. Upon graduation in 2017, he worked as an associate before taking over as the practice owner of Comstock Family Dentistry in 2019.

Dr. Kowalski is an active member of the American Dental Association and the Michigan Dental Association. While he loves the technical and scientific aspects of being a dentist, he has just as much fun getting to know his patients. Even if he’s short on time, Dr. Kowalski will always be sure to ask you what is going on in your life. When he isn’t busy working on teeth, you can usually find him working on home projects; he’s quite the handyman! He also enjoys camping, exercising, anything to do with cars, and spending time with his wife Natalie and son Finn. Dr. Kowalski and Natalie have two fun-loving dogs, Dixie and Freya.

CFD-Dentist-Alva

Dr. Rayford Alva, DDS

Dr. Rayford Alva grew up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago and grew up watching and playing sports. His time in Michigan began with four years of undergraduate studies in Biology at Andrews University in Berrien Springs. Dr. Alva met his wife in Loma Linda, California, where they both attended Loma Linda University. He studied dentistry and she received her masters degree in occupational therapy. After four years of dental school, they decided to begin their professional careers in Michigan, where they could both be close to family.

Dr. Alva and his wife are a proud aunt and uncle to two nephews and one niece. They get to see them a few times a month and treasure the time they get to spend with them. In their free time, Dr. Alva and his wife enjoy attending live music and theater events, watching football (soccer), visiting family, and listening to podcasts together. Dr. Alva looks forward to exploring the bike trails and natural spaces in Portage once the weather warms up.

They’ve enjoyed how many restaurants and stores the Kalamazoo/Portage area has to offer. Additionally, they’re grateful that they have a larger city in Grand Rapids that they can visit or travel out of.
